This liquid is then allowed to settle again (the water-milling purification process). The resulting cinnabar mud at the bottom is air-dried and then formed using ancient pressing techniques. Even upon cross-section, uniform, fine mineral sparkle particles can be observed within. **「Imperial Sand」** **Possesses a more vibrant, true red hue and a higher degree of hardness.** Its production involves multiple stages of purification from natural raw cinnabar ore, including **crushing/grinding/magnetic separation/water-milling/high polishing**, followed by ancient pressing methods. Imperial sand typically lacks surface mineral sparkle, though it is present internally. Because cinnabar is red, often a deep red, "朱" (zhū) also means red. Later, "丹砂" (dān shā) became known as "朱砂" (zhū shā). You may use the following methods for authentication:** . Burning cinnabar will cause it to turn black. (Please heat it indirectly. It is generally not recommended to directly burn finished products, as controlling the time and area is difficult. Once blackened by prolonged exposure, it cannot be restored.) . Genuine cinnabar can draw an orangey-red line on paper.
