If you are particular about the current condition of the plant, please feel free to message the designer for photos. 🔥🔥🔥 Blue Moon, *Senecio antandroi*, was initially known as "Green Halberd" or "Sky Halberd" (the character "halberd" sounds like "mou" when pronounced). It belongs to the Senecio genus within the Asteraceae family. These succulents are typically herbaceous, sub-shrubby, or shrubby plants, with over 1,200 species documented worldwide, found across various regions. Blue Moon's leaves are slender and strap-like, curving with pointed tips, reminiscent of a crescent moon, which gives it its name. Under ample sunlight, the leaves develop a slightly translucent quality. While similar in form to Blue Spruce succulents, Blue Moon's leaves are more elongated. The linear leaves grow in clusters along the stem, displaying a green to blue hue, often covered with a fine layer of white farina. The leaf surfaces feature translucent vertical stripes. The stems grow upright. Upon closer inspection, you'll notice faint lines on the leaves of the Sky Halberd succulent; these are actually transparent "windows" that enhance light absorption. Like String of Pearls, Curio radicans, Curio peregrinus, and others, Sky Halberd is part of the Asteraceae family, all possessing these transparent "windows" to maximize light intake. Spring and autumn mark the peak growing seasons for Blue Moon, with optimal temperatures ranging from 10 to 25 degrees Celsius. It will continue to grow even during warmer winter days. Thanks to its robust root system, Blue Moon grows faster than many other succulents. When potting, it's recommended to use a slightly larger and deeper pot to provide ample space for its base, encouraging the growth of more offsets. If the plant is underwatered or enters dormancy, its leaves will retract and close. A well-cared-for Blue Moon succulent will exhibit beautiful coloring, developing a striking deep blue hue. Similar to Blue Spruce, Blue Moon has a thick and developed root system. During summer, it prefers a shaded, cool location with adequate ventilation. With proper care, pests and diseases are generally not an issue, making it a remarkably easy and resilient succulent to maintain. | Sunlight | Blue Moon is a hardy succulent that thrives in sunlight, with upright growth. It appreciates full sun during spring and autumn. In summer, provide partial shade but ensure it still receives some light to prevent etiolation. Watering can be reduced slightly during this period. | Watering | The Sky Halberd succulent is a thirsty plant; it doesn't cease moisture loss even on cloudy days, thus requiring a bit more water. Water when the leaves appear shriveled and concave due to dehydration. It's quite resistant to overwatering-induced stretching, making it a docile and easy-to-care-for succulent. Once fully hydrated, its leaves become plump and round, which is incredibly charming! You can water it every two days, ensuring the soil dries out completely between waterings. It can tolerate outdoor conditions (露養), with occasional protection from heavy rain during the rainy season. Prolonged damp soil in summer might lead to stem rot near the base. | Propagation | Typically propagated through stem cuttings. Most succulents in the Senecio genus are not amenable to leaf propagation. Enthusiastic hobbyists can try leaf propagation, but expectations should be managed. | Flowering | Blue Moon blooms in the summer.
