We aim for a friendly yet unique Kimono upcycled clothing. The concept is next level of eco+human friendly clothing for all. Made from 80s high-end smooth Chirimen silk Kimono with auspicious pattern of sea wave. The aesthetic texture of the Chirimen fabric is indescribable, both sides of fabrics are too beautiful to be unseen, so we used the both for half and half in the front, silvery light grey of the back fabric for the back. It’s a joy of whole artisan fabric in one shirt. /The meaning of the pattern/ 青海波 Seigaiha/ Sea waves A wish for a peaceful life and lasting happiness. UMUI shirt has purposely no yoke at the back shoulder. The authentic Kimono has it’s own elegance of the split back from the collar to the bottom hem. That is a secret of the beautiful movement of the silk Kimono that always has the original sewing method of the back.
