Fired at 1260°C for 20 hours, the intense heat transforms the glaze within the kiln, causing it to shrink and flow. This process yields the distinctive patterns and fluid movement reminiscent of a peacock's tail feathers. The challenge in its creation lies in the precise control of glaze thickness and the delicate adjustment of the temperature curve. If the glaze is too thin or the temperature too low, the peacock feather pattern will not emerge. Conversely, if the glaze is too thick or the temperature too high, it will flow onto the kiln shelf, potentially damaging both the cup and the shelf. Even ambient temperature variations can influence the final outcome. Despite years of dedicated research, the subtle shifts in its behavior remain difficult to predict with absolute certainty. Yet, it is precisely this unpredictability that imbues each finished piece with its precious value. It is my hope that this work will inspire everyone to embrace hope when facing challenges, to persevere with unwavering effort, and to one day unfurl their own beautiful feathers, just like a peacock, illuminating their lives with brilliance!
