Mental Sketch 2: The Nighthawk Star - Handwoven Wool Long Scarf

This long scarf is handwoven using Saori weaving techniques, primarily featuring merino wool along with high-quality cashmere, mohair, and specialty yarns. The "Mental Sketch Series" translates the imagery from Kenji Miyazawa's fairy tales and poems into handwoven art. The second piece in the series is inspired by the story "The Nighthawk Star." It is a book review expressed through weaving. Including the warp threads, more than 50 different types of yarn were used. You can enjoy various color expressions depending on how you wrap it. Size: Approx. 37–39cm wide, 217cm total length (including 7cm fringe on each end), 231g. Decorative threads, gold lamé, and red lamé are incorporated, giving it a subtle and elegant shimmer when it catches the light. Please note that because many types of yarn are used, there may be slight variations in width due to different shrinkage rates. Containing cashmere and mohair, the scarf is light, fluffy, and soft. With use, the yarns will intertwine further, creating an even gentler texture. ◎ "Saori Weaving" is a style established by Misao Jo. It treats all weaving as a form of "self-expression," focusing on weaving freely with individuality and sensitivity. As I love color transitions, I changed yarns frequently to create gradients. Gently wash by shaking or pressing in cold or lukewarm water (0–30°C) mixed with a neutral detergent (for delicate fabrics). Rinse twice gently, remove moisture with a towel, reshape, and dry in the shade (entire process takes 2–3 mins). For a beautiful finish, lightly iron after removing excess water and before drying. ◎ Use a medium temperature iron with a pressing cloth. ◎ For long-term storage, we recommend using desiccants or mothballs.
