Based on Nonviolent Communication, developed by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, pleasant emotions arise when our needs are met, while unpleasant emotions signal that a need has not been fully satisfied. For example: If your child scatters toys all over the floor, you might feel angry or frustrated because your needs for "order" and "rest" are unmet. For example: When your partner surprises you for your birthday, you feel happy and touched because your needs for "intimacy" and "love" are met. For example: If you've made plans with a friend who is very late without notice, you might feel furious because your need for "respect" is unmet. Each set of "Connect & Converse Cards" includes 36 Emotion Cards and 60 Needs Cards. Each Emotion Card features at least one emotion vocabulary word and its corresponding visual representation, while each Needs Card lists a specific need. By using these Emotion and Needs Cards to connect with yourself or others, you can identify underlying emotions and needs, leading to more appropriate decisions.
