It was invented and designed by French officer August-Louis Adrian in 1915 and began to be put into large-scale use in the same year. It was the first standard helmet of the French army and the ancestor of modern military helmets.
Known for its special shape, the design provides additional head protection, shielding soldiers from falling bullets, splinters and fragments. The helmet also has a small hole on the top for inserting identification badges or other accessories.
After its introduction, it quickly became standard military equipment for many countries in World War I. In addition to France, it is also adopted by the armies of Belgium, Italy, Greece, Romania and some other countries.
The success of the Adrian Steel Helmet prompted other countries to design and use it as a basic helmet, and it became an important piece of equipment for soldiers in World War I. It had a profound impact on subsequent helmet products and represented an important milestone in the development of helmet technology and equipment during the First World War.
