Tree rings, also called annual growth rings, can be wide or narrow, dark or light, depending on what the weather was like in each year of the tree’s life. A tree’s ring pattern is in essence a fingerprint of what it has gone through and how it developed. I found it enlightening to know that even trees have the determination to grow through ups and downs, becoming stronger and bigger. Perfectly even growth rings do not exist in nature. Different thicknesses and shading in tree rings actually compose a better and more interesting visual.
