Shabon Glass Ochoko - Higanbana (Red Spider Lily) - Bar Glasses & Drinkware - Glass Purple

Product Description

This ochoko (small sake cup), made in the shabon glass style, is fully engraved with the higanbana (red spider lily / Lycoris) motif. Also known as manjushage or lycoris and an autumn seasonal word in Japanese poetry, the higanbana is engraved across the entire surface of the glass. Because this flower is both beautiful and highly poisonous, an ominous pattern is placed near the base to express that duality. The cup is available in three color variations: Amethyst (purple), Blue, and Amber. Ideal for personal use and also suitable as a gift for occasions such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or Respect-for-the-Aged Day. Point Shabon glass is colored by spraying powdered colored glass onto a transparent glass body and fusing it, producing a soft, delicate finish distinct from thick overlay (kaki/gabé) glass. Because the pattern is created by engraving rather than surface printing, there is no fading from washing or aging that you commonly see with printed cups. No inks are used, making the piece hygienic and clean. Specifications Size: W55 (top) × H62 mm Note: Sizes may vary slightly due to handmade production. Care & Notes This is a handmade item; each piece has its own unique character. Variations in color tone, small bubbles, or streaks may occur as part of the glass manufacturing process and are not defects. If sample images showing color variations are provided, please check all images before purchasing. When washing, avoid high-temperature methods such as dishwashers. Clean gently with a soft sponge and water. Due to the glass manufacturing process, dimensions may vary slightly. Our shop’s pieces are generally sold individually. In some photos we may show two or more cups to display different angles, but the listing is for a single piece unless otherwise stated.
