As the name suggests, the cloth mesh inlay is a soft iron carcass that is hand-cut with densely interlaced fine lines, like the textured fibers of the cloth, and then 24K pure gold and pure silver. The metal inlay process can be traced back to Damascus, the capital of Syria more than 2,000 years ago, and was later brought into the Iberian Peninsula (today's Spain and Portugal) with the Moorish invasion in the early eighth century.
