[Synopsis]
After leaving the world of journalism, Leung Hoi Ning successfully completed her Master's degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences, officially becoming a speech therapist.
She humbly states that she is not a celebrity or a great figure, and therefore, this book is not an autobiography. At its core, it is a modest collection of personal reflections, edited and compiled from fragmented writings spanning nearly thirty years of her life, from childhood through her studies and into her professional career.
The author shares in her preface: "The English word 'Anchor,' as defined by the dictionary, is a device used to secure a ship's hull, preventing it from being swept away by large waves. In the United States, the term 'Anchor' is often used to describe the most prominent member of a group.
However, news is not a drama, nor a movie. In a news program, no single person is the protagonist. The notion of being the 'most prominent member' is something I truly feel undeserving of.
Many viewers focus solely on the anchor delivering the news on screen, perhaps even attributing the entire production of the news to the anchor's efforts, overlooking the hard work of the behind-the-scenes team. In reality, television news is fundamentally a collaborative effort. Every role, whether it be reporter, assignment editor, cameraman, editor, director, engineer, or post-production, involves departments that are intricately connected and indispensable. ......
Time has quietly passed, and after more than six years navigating the news industry, last year marked a turning point in my life – I successfully completed my Master's degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences, and I officially became a speech therapist. Though I may have lingering affections for the news profession, I have, at the very least, placed a 'dash' at the end of that chapter."
