Step into the World of Stained Glass
Have you ever been mesmerized by the vibrant light filtering through a church's rose window? That is a perfect synergy of light and art—a magic that has been captivating people for a thousand years. Since the 12th century, artisans have used their superb skills to assemble colored glass into moving patterns, transforming sunlight into a divine and dazzling spectacle that continues to inspire awe.

What is Stained Glass?
Stained glass is the art of precisely cutting and assembling various colors of glass to form a designed image. Sometimes, it incorporates painting techniques to add richer detail and narrative. Due to its unique light-transmitting quality, each piece of glass transforms mere light into vibrant, living color.

The Alchemy of Color
The brilliant colors of the glass are thanks to the magical formula of metallic oxides. For example, adding Chromium Oxide (Cr2O 3) yields a lush green, while Cobalt Oxide (Co 2O 3) produces a deep blue. These metal elements give the glass its unique spectral properties, ensuring that every piece of hand-crafted glass is an inimitable work of art.
Stained Glass Footprints in Taiwan
Stained glass is actually more prevalent in Taiwan than you might realize. Besides famous sites like the National Taiwan Museum (Taipei), the Holy Family Catholic Church (Taipei), and the recent grand work, The Dome of Light at Kaohsiung's Formosa Boulevard Station, this craft was introduced during the Japanese rule. It left beautiful traces in historical public buildings and some private residences. While still predominantly seen in churches, its fascinating beauty is continually attracting wider attention.

Important Safety & Preparation Notes
To ensure you have a safe and enjoyable creative experience, please read the following guidelines carefully:
Preparation & Attire
Clothing: Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting slightly dirty. Please avoid loose sleeves, large lace, or fringes that could get caught in machinery.
Footwear: Closed-toe shoes (sneakers, casual shoes) are mandatory! No flip-flops or sandals are allowed to prevent cuts from glass shards or dropped tools.
Hair & Jewelry: Long hair must be tied up. Please remove all hand jewelry (watches, bracelets, rings) when operating machinery.
Safety First
Instructor Guidance: Equipment like the grinder and soldering iron can be hazardous. You must strictly follow the instructor's directions and never operate machinery unsupervised.
Heat Awareness: The soldering iron tip is extremely hot. Handle with care, do not touch the tip, and ensure it does not touch cables or tabletops.
Handling Glass: Even pre-cut glass edges can be sharp. Handle all pieces carefully, especially when grinding or moving them. Immediately notify the instructor if you sustain an injury.
We look forward to creating beautiful work with you!
