Vintage French wind-up alarm clock made by Jaz.
This company was founded in 1919. They introduced their Jaz bird logo in 1941. During the German occupation of France in WWII, the Jazz music genre was considerably frowned upon due to carrying pro-American influences. However, the “Jaseur” (waxwing in English) bird, a migratory bird about the size of a starling was used as a symbol of defiance. The bird mark on this clock was in production in the 1970s. The clock is made of metal with a plastic face cover.
This piece is fully functioning and keeps good time. It has a movement that is at least 48 hours, but we recommend it is wound daily. The postage and delivery process may impact the accuracy of the clock when received but this is easily adjusted via a slot on the back.
It is in fair condition with some signs of aging and usage such as light scratches on the plastic clock face cover as well as some surface marks and paint chippage on the metal housing.
