Voice of the Mountain
Time Move, mountains stay.
Hong Kong has a total area of 2,755 square kilometers. The sea is larger than the land, and there are more mountains than flat land. Tracing back the history of geological development, Hong Kong's real land was formed during the Middle Jurassic to Late Jurassic (165 million to 140 million years ago). At that time, there were many volcanoes in Hong Kong, spewing out a large amount of volcanic ash and lava rich in minerals. These violent eruptions lasted for several weeks, and even formed large caldera-type volcanoes.
The diversity of landforms and ecology made Hong Kong inscribed in the list of UNESCO Geoparks in 2011. At the same time, the city of Hong Kong is also developing with its backs on different mountains, such as Lion Rock, Victoria Peak, Tai Mo Shan, Ma On Shan...without mountains, there would be no Hong Kong.
