This is a swallow's nest I've cherished for a long time. Truly, these little ones are so endearing. I crafted them with great care, focusing on that chirping warmth. Starting from a sketch, I shape the clay, allowing it to dry slightly before refining the form through repeated steps. I prepare enough pieces to fill the kiln evenly, a process that takes about a month. Bisque firing takes 7 hours. Afterwards, I wipe them with water and apply glaze individually before the main firing, which lasts 12 hours. For some pieces, I add gold luster and return them to the kiln for another 7 hours. Because they require a slow cooling process, I wait about two days after each firing before removing them from the kiln. Then, I carefully select each piece and attach a pin. Currently, the success rate is around 70%. While it requires significant time and effort, the result is a decorative brooch that combines the tactile feel of clay, the strength of pottery, the sheen of glaze, and the sparkle of gold accents.
