About the creation process.
Starting with a sketch, clay is shaped, dried slightly, and the process of refining the form is repeated several times. We create enough to fill the kiln evenly over about a month. Bisque firing takes 7 hours; after removing and wiping with water, each piece is individually glazed and undergoes final firing for 12 hours. Some pieces are decorated with gold glaze and re-enter the kiln for another 7 hours. As they require slow cooling, we wait about 2 days after each firing before removing them from the kiln. Then, each piece is inspected by hand and a pin is attached to the suitable ones. The current success rate is around 70%.
Although it requires a significant amount of time and effort, the result is a decorative brooch that combines the tactile feel of clay, the strength of pottery, the luster of glaze, and the sparkle of gold accents.
We believe this is an item that can be cherished for a long time, remaining as beautiful as ever.
