There's speculation that the ancient Chinese jade, Heshibi, might have been made from Labradorite. According to the Tang Dynasty Taoist Du Guangting's description, "it appears jade-green from the side and white when viewed directly," which aligns with the color-changing optical effect of Labradorite. A faction of scholars supports the theory that it was made from chatoyant gemstones like Labradorite, Moonstone, or opal from Western China, all possessing iridescence.
