Kyoto Unsōdō Woodblock Print Postcard - Jingū Sakura - Cards & Postcards - Paper

Product Description

Unsōdō was founded in the 24th year of Meiji, initially as a publisher of art books utilizing woodblock printing techniques. The name "Unsōdō" was gifted by the literati painter Tomioka Tessai, who inscribed it with "Un (芸), the fragrance of grass." "Unsō" refers to the perennial herb of the Rutaceae family, known in Chinese as "Yúnxiāng" (芸香), and is a homophone for the simplified Chinese character "Yún" (芸) for "Yì" (藝). In the 7th year of Taishō, the Tokyo store was opened, engaging in the publication of pattern reference books and photo collections for kimono accessories and crafts, as well as the production of woodblock prints for appreciation. Today, only a handful of woodblock printing publishers remain in Kyoto and Tokyo. Among them, Unsōdō is the only publisher in Japan that issues handmade woodblock printed Japanese-style books and continues to produce replicas of many works. ※ The color of the product image may vary slightly due to differences in computer monitor settings. The actual product color is the standard. If you have any questions, please contact customer service. ※ The appreciation period is "not a trial period." Please unpack and inspect the product immediately upon receipt. If there are any defects, please take photos and notify us by phone, chat, or email within 24 hours of delivery.
