Yan Long Zhui · Sunburn Sunburned agave pendant 925silver What do sunburned leaves look like? Of course, there are many different kinds and forms. For this Yan Long Zhui pendant, I referenced the skin of olive tree bodies, the dry, cracked skin on my own fingers, and the appearance of real agave leaves that have been sunburnt. I took these elements from the originals, reinterpreted them, and reassembled them into this pendant. The inner texture is inspired by the surface of sunburnt real agave, dried leaves, the bark of desert mesquite, and the bark of Japanese cypress. These were also disassembled and then infused after my own personal interpretation, using techniques I haven't employed before. This pendant is still substantial in size, and I still hope everyone will experiment with layering multiple pieces when wearing it.
