As the name suggests, this variety's spines have completely degenerated into white surface protrusions, meaning it's entirely thornless and poses no risk of pricking anyone. However, in its more youthful and tender stages, it does grow golden spines, which will gradually fade with accumulated time! So, if your "Nuda" cactus still has a few thorns, don't worry, they will eventually recede and disappear.
