Plump, Round Engraved Cup: Canola Flower

Crafted from a coarse red earthenware, this piece offers a warmth characteristic of pottery. After being shaped into a rounded cup form, it is adorned with engraved lines reminiscent of canola flowers. The entire vessel is fired with a matte glaze, giving it a rustic texture, and then the engraved pattern is hand-colored and fired again. The base is made slightly smaller to achieve a form that is both plump and streamlined. Perfect for sencha green tea, roasted green tea, coffee, cafe au lait, or even soup. It can also be used for desserts like pudding or jelly, or for traditional Japanese sweets like zenzai or mini anmitsu. Enjoy this versatile piece with a variety of beverages and dishes. All crafting processes, from clay kneading and shaping to bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are meticulously done by hand in my studio, equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. While mass production is not possible, each piece possesses its own unique character, offering the distinct charm of handmade craftsmanship.
