Crafted from coarse red clay, this piece embodies the warmth characteristic of ceramics.
After shaping it into a perfectly rounded yunomi, a carved pattern reminiscent of nandina berries was added.
The entire surface is coated with a matte glaze for a simple, textured finish and fired. It's then hand-painted with enamels along the carvings and fired again.
Its plump form feels comfortable in the hands, with the curves of the cup nestling snugly when held with both hands.
The interior is a soft, off-white hue, allowing you to fully appreciate the color of clear beverages like green tea or black tea.
It's also perfect for drinks like cafe au lait or houjicha lattes, and can even serve as a charming dish for ice cream or pudding.
Enjoy it with a variety of drinks and dishes.
All stages, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are meticulously done by hand in my home studio, equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel.
While I cannot produce in large quantities, each piece has its own unique character, offering a charm that only handmade items possess.
The item you receive will be the one pictured.
The base has been carefully sanded to minimize scratching your table surfaces.
I continuously explore new combinations of glazes and clays, creating a diverse range of ceramic pieces in various colors and forms.
Each piece is unique, nearly identical but truly one-of-a-kind.
It brings me great joy to think you might find a piece that truly speaks to you.
I hope you'll find a little warmth woven by the clay and glazes to add a touch of color to your everyday life.

*Important Notes for Purchase and Use*
- Due to the porous nature of ceramics, they may absorb water, and in some cases, the glaze may develop fine cracks (kannyu) that could stain or seep moisture.
To address this, all our items undergo a watertight treatment using a food-safe sealant before shipping, eliminating the need for a separate sealing process (me-dome). This treatment takes 2-3 days, hence our shipping timeframe of 5 days from order placement. Please let us know at the time of purchase if you do not wish for this treatment.
- The appearance of the glaze color can vary depending on the light. It may appear whiter under natural daylight or cool white light, and exhibit warmer red or yellow undertones under evening light or warm-toned lamps.
- Cutlery shown in the product images is not included.
- We strive to capture and edit product images to be as true to life as possible. However, please be aware that colors may appear differently depending on your monitor settings and lighting conditions.
- As this item is also sold on other platforms, in the rare event of overlapping purchases, the item will be allocated to the customer who completes the purchase first. We appreciate your understanding.
- While the item can be used in a microwave (for reheating) and dishwasher, frequent use may accelerate wear and tear due to vibrations from microwaves and high-pressure water jets. We recommend using these appliances sparingly.
- Please refrain from using the item in an oven or over an open flame.
- After use, please wash thoroughly and ensure the item is completely dry before storing it in your cupboard to prevent stains and mold.
