Ma Pai-Shui (1909-2003) was a renowned watercolor and color-ink painter forn Liaoning, Lofer, he taught at the Department of Fine Arts,
National Taiwan Normal University, promoting watercolor education and blending Eostern and Western styles.
His masterpiece, Taroko Gorge (created at age ninety), is a twenty-four-panel screen over sixteen meters wide.It is one of the collections of the National History Museum.In 2015, it was designated an Important Cultural Artefact by the Ministry of Culture.
Depicting Taroko Gorge through six themes-seasons and light-it merges vivid watercolor with expressive ink, honoring Talwan's majestic landscapes.
