19th Century French Archaeological Style Spindle Pendant with Pearls and Gold (Small)

This pendant from the latter half of the 19th century in France is crafted from 18k gold, adorned with pearls, and repurposed from a brooch by us. In the mid-19th century, spurred by archaeological discoveries of ancient Etruscan sites from before the Common Era, contemporary goldsmiths rediscovered lost ancient techniques and designs, giving rise to archaeological-style jewelry. The Etruscan civilization flourished between the 12th and 1st centuries BCE, spanning what is now the Italian Peninsula and Corsica. Though brief, this civilization astounded the world with its jewelry featuring the Granulation Technique. Intricate gold granules and threads adorn the surface of gold ornaments, yet no trace of soldering is visible, showcasing an exceptionally delicate craftsmanship. The spindle-shaped pendant is entirely decorated with fine gold granules and threads, representative of the Etruscan Revival style. The decorative motifs feature symmetrical, stylized floral patterns. The piece is in good antique condition, showing normal signs of oxidation and wear.
