It not only allowed me to rediscover the joy of living well but also to witness the ancient capital's profound respect for and innovation in traditional culture and craftsmanship. What captured my heart at first sight were the coin purses meticulously crafted by a kimono artisan. Mr. Nakamura, a gentleman of shy grace, has retired from the kimono-making profession but continues to create coin purses designed with his lifelong passion: kimono fabrics. 【Premium Kimono Tsumugi Series】 The spirit of a dedicated artisan is fully evident in every detail and material selection. This piece features Kyoto's exquisite 'Kanoko Shibori' tie-dyeing technique. Named for its resemblance to a fawn's spots, this manual dyeing process is incredibly intricate and refined, resulting in truly unique patterns and colors. Consequently, these pieces are exceptionally rare, making them treasures to be cherished with an "ichi-go ichi-e" (once in a lifetime) mindset. - Unlike the commonplace patterns found on typical fabrics, each piece is made from a very limited quantity of kimono silk crepe, ensuring you won't encounter a matching bag. Even with small accessories, using superior materials speaks volumes about one's taste in style. The artisan also kindly advises, "Please use it gently; the texture will become even softer over time." - It's clear that people in Kyoto truly appreciate fine things! No wonder they take such pride in their city. We are grateful to the artisan for kindly agreeing to create a special batch for us. I must be honest: compared to the myriad of coin purses available elsewhere, the initial price might seem a bit steep. At first, I was merely drawn to its aesthetic appeal, not paying much mind to the premium kimono fabric or the finely crafted clasp, assuming it was standard. However, after receiving and using it, I truly understood its value. With every opening and closing, I can't help but marvel, growing more fond of it the longer I have it.
