Jean-Ernest Aubert Jean-Ernest Aubert (1824-1906) French painter and sculptor. As a student at the atelier of Paul Delaroche and Achille-Louis Martinet at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Aubert won the Prix de Rome for Sculpture in 1844. From 1851 he devoted himself exclusively to painting, taking most of his subjects from 18th-century mythology.
