There are four variations: plain brass, black dye, tin plated, and verdigris. Brass/pure copper is said to have good thermal conductivity, antibacterial properties, and be hygienic. For everyday use, simply wash with a neutral detergent. It is also interesting to see the color deepen and dull over time. To restore it to its original shine, gently scrub it with baking soda and toothpaste.
