1. Material Selection
The cowhide used by "Cut Line" is exclusively A-grade, high-oil vegetable-tanned leather sourced from Italy. As a natural material, and due to the tannery's minimal-impact vegetable tanning process, the leather surface may inevitably bear minor "scars," "wrinkles," or "veins." We meticulously select our materials during the cutting process, aiming to avoid these marks or position them on less visible or non-load-bearing areas of the product.
2. Pure Hand-Stitching
Our products are entirely hand-stitched, eschewing sewing machines. Before stitching, special diamond chisels are used to create precise holes in the leather, enabling the characteristic wavy stitch pattern that distinguishes our work from machine-made items. While this significantly extends production time, it is a crucial step where the artisan imbues the leather goods with soul and a warm, tactile feel.
3. Hand-Burnished Edges
The final step before a product is complete is the meticulous burnishing and sealing of the leather edges. To achieve a smooth, rounded, and natural finish, "Cut Line" employs a proprietary edge-finishing technique. This involves repeatedly sanding the edges with sandpaper until smooth, followed by applying an edge sealant for a flat appearance. This process is repeated 2-3 times before a final layer of edge wax is applied. The edges are then repeatedly burnished with a polishing tool until they achieve a lustrous smoothness.
4. Hand-Dyed Leather
For our hand-dyed products, "Cut Line" utilizes Fiebing's leather alcohol dyes imported from the United States. To ensure even and natural coloration, the leather surface is first dampened with water. Dye is then applied layer by layer with a sponge, gradually deepening the color until the desired shade is achieved. Once dry, a color-fixing agent is applied to enhance colorfastness. Finally, the surface is lightly wiped with water to remove any dust and further even out the color.
As each piece is hand-dyed, subtle variations in color exist between individual bags, making each one truly unique.

- This backpack design, reimagined from a bucket bag, features a drawstring with colorful beads that adds a distinctive flair. Crafted entirely from vegetable-tanned leather, the main body of the bag has undergone a special softening process to facilitate easy access. This treatment enhances the leather's resilience compared to direct use of soft vegetable-tanned leather, not only resolving the issue of difficult access but also ensuring the bag maintains its structured appearance over time.
