Beautiful Trifari Brooch from the “Radiance” collection created for Trifari by Alfred Philippe in mid-1950’s.
Stunning brooch in the shape of bouquet of three thistle flowers with purple baguette crystals. Other jewelry from the “Radiance” collection was shown in Trifari ads for Christmas 1954.
The “Radiance” demi-parure with clear crystals listed as a separate listing.
Stunning flowers set with purple baguette-cut stones and clear “invisible setting” crystals that was signature technique of Alfred Philippe, chief designer of Trifari from 1930 till 1968. This brooch features both gold-tone and silver-tone Trifanium - company’s patented metal alloy. The combination of two tones of metals was more expensive to produce than jewelry made of just one type. Thus this collection was Premium in design and craftsmanship. Perfectly encapsulating the iconic Trifari style of the 1950s.
The brooch and clip-on earrings from this collection were featured in colourful Trifari’s Advertisement for Christmas 1954: “Her Favourite Santa Gives Her Jewels by Trifari”. There was also black-and-white advertisement for “Radiance” collection in a newspaper. The ad says: “Radiance…blazing briliance wreathed in golden-tone Trifanium” The price for the Bouquet pin was quoted as $7.50, the round brooch and the earrings quoted as $5 each, which was premium pricing for mid-1950’s, when some ordinary pins costed $0.5 - $1.
Jewelry from “Radiance” collection (bracelet, necklace, two kinds of brooches and clip-on earrings) was featured in Julia Carroll book “Collecting Costume Jewelry 101”, 2d Edition, page 69.
The brooch clearly signed “Trifari” with a crown over letter “T” and copyright sign that allow us to date it after 1955. Thus we conclude that this collection was Trifari best-seller and was manufactured from 1954 till 1955 or later.
The jewelry from this collection were produced in various colours. The five baguette-cut stones standing on top of flowers like rays of sunshine - hence, the name of the collection. After initial success of the first version with clear stones, there were later versions with purple, blue or green stones.
Collectors of vintage jewelry and Trifari enthusiasts will appreciate the opportunity to own a piece of history, carrying the legacy of an iconic brand. Invest in this timeless beauty and celebrate the artistry of the 1950s.
The brooch is in very good vintage condition: there are no missing stones, no discolouration. However there could be some minor flaws that corresponds to actual age of this piece of jewelry.

ABOUT TRIFARI
Trifari is one of the most important costume jewelry manufacturers in the world. Trifari jewelry is of the outstanding quality, design and craftsmanship.
It’s history began more than 100 years ago - in 1910’s. First, the company name was “Trifari and Trifari”, in 1918 it became “Trifari and Krussman”. In 1925 the name was changed to “Trifari, Krussman and Fishel” or “T.K.F.” as early jewelry pieces were signed by these three letters.
The unique style of Trifari was mostly created by one man - Alfred Philippe - who joined Trifari in 1930 as Head designer. Alfred Philippe, Frenchman, who previously had been trained and designed jewelry at Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels.
Philippe introduced to Trifari some sophisticated techniques, such as “the invisible setting” that before was used only to precious jewelry of Cartier. Also Philippe began to use for Trifari the finest cut Swarovski crystals from Austria.
In late 1940’s Trifari created and patented their own high-quality non-tarnish alloy named “Trifanium”. After success of gold-tone Trifanium, the company introduced silver-tone triennium in 1950’s.
“Trifari” brand name was registered in 1938, ‘the Crown” symbol was added over letter “T” in 1940. The logo had changed several times but all jewelry pieces were always signed with the company logotype. This fact even became a part of advertising campaign; “If it’s not signed, it is not Trifari”. In 1930-1954 the company patented its most popular designs and the jewelry from this period often has “Des.Pat.Pending” signature. From 1955 Trifari became copyrighting its designs, so the jewelry is signed with (c) symbol. Pre-1955 pieces are the most desirable and highly collectible and prices for them will grow over time. The same is true for all Trifari jewelry designed by Alfred Philippe before his retirement in 1968.
