Basic mounting (acid-free mounting) + museum-grade low-reflective Acrylic Print size: 40.5*50cm Finished size: 50.5*60cm Miwa KOMATSU Born in Nagano Prefecture, Japan in 1984, she graduated from the Department of Joshibi Art Junior College in 2004 and won the Outstanding Work Award the following year. The copperplate print "Forty-nine Days" produced in the same year was highly praised for its outstanding skills and style, and she has since embarked on the path of an artist. Her early works have delicate lines and black and white colors, mostly with life and death as the theme, and the style is relatively dark. A subsequent trip to New York made Komatsu determined to paint a unique work with a pen, so she destroyed the original copperplate of her famous work "Forty-nine Days", forcing herself to move forward to the next stage and start a new creation without being attached to past achievements. In 2012, she held a solo exhibition at the "Kitano Museum of Art". In 2013, she was selected as one of the top 39 artists in the world in the French "PRIX CANSON 2013" art award. At this time, she re-examined the relationship between gods and humans, turning from life and death to prayer, and depicted the warm energy of the guardian beasts with bright and colorful colors. In 2014, in addition to holding a solo exhibition at the "Ueda City Museum of Art", she also donated her works to the Izumo Taisha. In 2015, her Arita ware Komainu painting "The Guardian of Heaven and Earth" was exhibited at the Chelsea Flower Show in London, winning the Gold Award. It was also collected by the British Museum, making her the youngest living artist to have her work collected by the museum. The following year, her works were also exhibited at the World Trade Center in New York. In 2017, her solo exhibition at the Garden Terrace Kioicho in Tokyo attracted 30,000 visitors.
