Staff "Vanderwaal" A slender, refreshing green staff, it serves as a steadfast companion through life's endeavors. The staff's name, Vanderwaal, is inspired by Johannes Diderik van der Waals, the Nobel laureate of 1910. Despite a background lacking formal education and classical linguistic knowledge for examinations, preventing him from becoming a full-time university student and relegating him to attending lectures, he ultimately achieved immense honor and recognition. The law named after him is the renowned van der Waals force, which describes the non-directional, non-saturating, and weak interactions between molecules or noble gas atoms. Van der Waals forces are a type of electrostatic interaction, significantly weaker than chemical or covalent bonds, typically with energies less than 5 kJ/mol. The magnitude of van der Waals forces is directly proportional to the size of the molecule. This staff is not intended for supporting body weight. It transforms from yellow to green when exposed to sunlight, emitting a fragrance, and is also known as Jade Sandalwood. Its growth environment experiences extreme climate variations, ranging from sub-zero temperatures to 40 degrees Celsius depending on the season. Currently a scarce material, it is endangered and its export is restricted by Paraguay. When working with Green Sandalwood for sword crafting, its considerable weight often necessitates intentional hollowing to manage the balance and achieve a more ergonomic feel. Its hardness also makes processing slower and more demanding on tools. If left out of sunlight for extended periods, its color may revert from green to yellow. A mere 20-minute exposure to sunlight can restore its green hue. Material: Green Sandalwood (Jade Sandalwood), with a natural aroma. Occasional gentle polishing with fine-grit paper can enhance its luster. If left in darkness for too long and its green vibrancy diminishes, sunlight will revive it.
