Artist introduction_
Edouard Garnier was a 19th-century French ceramicist who devoted himself to the study of ceramics and wrote several important works. The most famous is his "Dictionary of Ceramics" published in 1880. In addition, another of his works, "Sèvres Porcelain", is still favored by lovers of Sèvres porcelain and contains fifty color illustrations.
In addition to being a member of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Garnier also served as director of the National Museum of Ceramics in Sèvres. The museum was established at the beginning of the 19th century as part of the Sèvres porcelain kiln factory and later became independent in 1927.
The Sèvres porcelain kilns produced some of the most beautiful and rare porcelain ever produced, widely collected by illustrators and royal families around the world, including the King and Queen of England, Marie Antoinette of France, and most of today's porcelain.
