Event Description/
Sea octopus, commonly known as cuttlefish bone, is the product of drying the unwanted parts of cuttlefish. It is purely natural and non-toxic. It is also used in traditional Chinese medicine. The metal is made of 99.9 pure tin, which is a safe, non-toxic metal with high ductility. It is a material used by many craftsmen and designers to make products such as tinware, decanters, etc. It is said to have the effect of purifying water quality.
The technique we experienced is called Cuttlebone Casting. It is an ancient metalworking casting technology from the seventh century. From the experience of this workshop, we can understand the basic metalworking casting process and production methods. The event takes place at a Swinhoe coffee shop in Zhongxin Market in Taichung, and the HOU'S studio is on the second floor, a secret base where artists and creators are invited from time to time to share resources.
