This wheel-thrown chawan was made in my small pottery workshop in Taiwan. I used Japanese porcelain clay and then applied black glaze. To add more interest I dusted wood ash which when fired will melt and turn into an amber glaze. I also layered a second glaze over the lip, again adding some nice color break.
The bowl feels very comfortable in the hands.
A nice side note of this bowl is that I stamped a map of Taiwan at the base.
Be the owner of a handmade teabowl, made on the beautiful island of Taiwan.
