The Istituto Fotocromo Italiano (IFI) was founded in Florence in 1928 by engineer Vincenzo Balocchi.
Besides his engineering pursuits, he was also a renowned amateur photographer and served as the art director for the Fratelli Alinari company.
-
Today, IFI remains under the leadership of the same family, just as it was in its inception.
Each product carries an authentic Italian heritage, with every step – from the material itself, design, to production and printing – completed in Italy.
The paper used is also Italian fine art paper, which perfectly captures the printed colors.
This approach continues the rich, vintage artistic style characteristic of Italy and other European nations.
-
For IFI,
a wealth of nostalgic style and local character guides their work.
Their creations span opera, film, advertisements, architecture, and even world literature,
offering a distinctly vivid and comprehensive aesthetic.
Through these images, we are invited to imagine the ambiance of bygone eras.
If you are captivated by medieval Europe,
you might find much inspiration in IFI's collections!
