The traces of the past often carry the wisdom and exquisite craftsmanship of our predecessors. Unfortunately, with the changing times, the hard work and creations of many artisans are gradually being forgotten and phased out. Even if they can escape demolition, they are hard to avoid the fate of revitalization and renovation. Today, the terrazzo signage that was once seen everywhere can only be found in old buildings or traditional shops.
Terrazzo—also known as "Italian plaster"—is an old plastering technique that mixes crushed stones, commonly called "stone granules" or "white stones," with white Portland cement, and then grinds the surface to reveal the stone patterns. "White Portland cement" and "stone granules" are both made from recycled paper pulp, combined and then formed into paper, ultimately creating unique colors and textures.
This is not just a beautiful cultural and creative product, but also a tribute to the past, allowing us to record the wisdom and aesthetics of yesteryear in another way!
The recycled paper is not dyed. Each handmade batch will have variations in depth of color. Perfectionists are welcome to discuss with the designer before placing an order.
