This bracelet connects two-tone iridescent Roman glass beads with textured brass & Indian brass, lapis lazuli, and jade.
The two-tone soda blue and blue beads are Roman glass.
Roman glass dates back to the Roman Empire (27 BCE – 395 CE).
These beads are crafted from polished fragments of ancient vessels, now drilled with holes.
Near the center, you'll notice an iridescent sheen.
This iridescence occurs when glass is buried underground for extended periods, causing a chemical reaction between the glass and soil components, resulting in a sparkling luminescence. Not all glass buried for long durations develops this effect.
The small, pebble-shaped Roman glass beads strung together are also from this ancient period.
(Dimensions of the central Roman glass bead: 1.4 cm width, 0.8 cm diameter)
We've paired these with square and faceted, bun-shaped lapis lazuli beads.
The textured, spherical beads are brass beads created by the Benin people of Africa.
They feature incredibly intricate craftsmanship!
Connecting these are charming Indian brass pieces near the clasp, including teardrop shapes, discs, and small spheres. While bright now, they will develop a more subdued patina over time, adding to their evolving beauty.
(Dimensions of the teardrop-shaped Indian brass piece: 1.7 cm height, 1.2 cm width)
The white, abacus-shaped beads are jade.
The clasp is a hexagonal toggle with a dotted pattern.
We can adjust the size. Please feel free to contact us.
This bracelet is perfect for the upcoming season, beautifully complementing sunny days.
