Sanyu was the only Chinese artist creating Western-style prints in the early 1930s. Sanyu, who is familiar with Chinese calligraphy, seal carving and lacquer carving, integrates smooth lines into prints. Without the interference of materials and colors, Sanyu's prints can better refine his love for simplicity.
Following oil paintings, sculptures, drawings and watercolors, Yi Shufan launches the final chapter of Sanyu's collection - "The Complete Collection of Sanyu Prints". This book contains forty-two Sanyu prints, most of which have never been seen before. Hopefully the beauty of these works will speak for itself and encourage more people to appreciate Sanyu through the full range of his work.
