A small cone ball, fired from wood and cogongrass.
Several layers of uneven white slip were brushed onto the clay body, allowing the white slip to penetrate the recessed areas of the rope pattern.
After the wood firing, between the raised and lowered areas imprinted by the rope,
the variations in depth of smoke and fire marks remain,
creating an interesting contrast between the rope pattern and the white slip.
Glaze: Unglazed
Ø 10 H 6.7 cm
Pottery Care:
As the vessels are used daily, they gradually develop unique characteristics.
To ensure longevity, please observe the following:
. Do not use over an open flame. Safe for oven and microwave use.
. It is recommended to soak the vessel thoroughly in water before use, then wipe dry with a cloth before serving food. This helps prevent absorption of juices and oils.
. Please wash and dry the vessel promptly after use.
. We recommend using a soft sponge with a neutral detergent for cleaning.
. If using a dishwasher or dish dryer, please place the vessel securely to prevent damage from vibrations during operation.
. Fine cracks may appear on the surface after use; this is known as "crazing" or "kintsugi," a normal variation in the glaze.
. For first-time use, prepare a pot of rice water. Line the bottom of the pot with a paper towel, submerge the vessel completely, and simmer for twenty minutes. Allow to cool. The starch from the rice will fill the pores of the ceramic surface, preventing future stains and odors. This process can be repeated periodically.

Shan Xi | Earth Vessels
For us, a day well-lived is often summarized by a satisfying meal. We enjoy ending our day with good food, served in beautiful vessels, followed by a cup of tea or a warming drink on a cold evening. Over time, these vessels add a unique charm to our lives, becoming cherished companions.
Observing the vessels we use daily sparked the idea: "Why don't we try making pottery ourselves?"
The pottery we aim to create retains a simple, earthy aesthetic. It possesses a comforting weight, feeling warm in the hands. Our lifestyle is reflected in our vessels: the familiar teapot stained with tea leaves, the white teacups developing a network of fine cracks filled with tea color over time, the off-white shallow plates paired with vibrant green stir-fried vegetables, the matte black bowls making rice appear more lustrous, and the mountain-shaped bowls perfectly portioned for desserts.
Find your perfect vessel here—a companion for daily life, designed to last.
