Please be aware!) > Category Water-milled cinnabar, Emperor cinnabar, Purple-gold cinnabar, and Crystal cinnabar are all high-content quality cinnabar. Their main differences lie in color, texture, hardness, and production methods. "Water-milled cinnabar" True red, slightly orange-toned. The surface has a warm matte finish, which will become brighter with wear, forming a patina. The production method involves repeatedly grinding fine cinnabar particles into a paste, mixing with water, letting it settle, collecting the upper "turbid liquid," letting it settle again (water-milling purification), air-drying the bottom cinnabar mud, and then pressing it using ancient methods. The cross-section still shows uniform, fine mineral sparkle particles. "Emperor cinnabar" The color is more towards true red, with a brighter hue and higher hardness. The production method involves multiple steps of crushing, grinding, magnetic separation, water-milling, and high polishing from natural raw cinnabar ore, followed by ancient pressing methods. Emperor cinnabar has almost no external mineral sparkle, but has it internally. The exterior uses a high-polishing process to present a metallic texture, especially under sunlight, giving it a full metallic feel. "Purple-gold cinnabar" The color is purplish-red, and the hardness is slightly lower than Emperor cinnabar. The production method involves multiple steps such as crushing, grinding, and screening from natural raw cinnabar ore, but without water-milling purification. Therefore, the surface is not as fine, and there are scattered small mineral sparkles, giving a "starry sky" effect. "Crystal cinnabar" The color is purplish-red and translucent. Large cinnabar particles are directly chipped from cinnabar ore. In ancient times, mine shafts were dug, and minerals were extracted from the shafts. Therefore, the character "丹" is essentially the character "井" (jǐng, well) with a dot in the middle, signifying that after digging a mine shaft, something was extracted from it, and that something was cinnabar. Because cinnabar is red, mostly deep red, "朱" (zhū) also means red. Later, cinnabar was called "朱砂" (zhūshā). "丹" and "朱" describe the color, and "砂" describes the shape, meaning irregular granular minerals. The color of cinnabar is unfading. Chinese calligraphy and painting are called "丹青" (dānqīng), where "丹" refers to cinnabar. Cinnabar is also an indispensable component of the "Eight Treasures Seal Paste," a traditional pigment. It is not recommended to get the string-braided bracelets wet. After cleaning, they should be air-dried before wearing, as damp strings can lead to excessive moisture, which is not good for the body. 1. Avoid Corrosion Cinnabar is a mineral and does not dissolve in water. However, frequent contact with chemicals such as soap and bath gel can corrode cinnabar. 2.
