/ Product Description and Story /
Every mountain and river has its own character.
Every mother weaver passes down a unique river weaving pattern to each blossoming daughter.
The Ika River Weave and Ika Key Weave are traditional Phou Tai patterns from Laos.
The River Weave features winding V-shaped lines.
The intricate pattern, resembling a maze yet also a key, showcases complex right-angle turns.
Remarkably, these "Ika weaves" are not created on the loom itself. The patterns are meticulously planned during the dyeing process, with threads tied to resist dye in specific areas to achieve the desired white motifs.
Each family possesses its own unique dyeing and weaving methods.
Countless daughters inherit their mothers' teachings,
and then, through their own connection to the earth and landscapes,
they transform these traditions into new designs.
Fathers and brothers work diligently in the fields,
cultivating and harvesting plants for dyeing,
and constructing the frames and details of the looms from bamboo or wood.
It is a creation born from the combined strength of heaven, earth, parents, and siblings.
