|Production Group: Tara Project|
In the 1960s, in New Delhi, the capital of northern India, a group of volunteers, including Dr. Shyam Sharma and other activists and teachers aimed at improving the lives of the poor, initiated a sewing and embroidery training program.
Soon, production groups composed of people who have mastered the technology were formed in various places, and the variety of products continued to expand. As an organization to sell products from each group overseas, Tara Project was established.
In addition to marketing and selling products produced by local producer groups, the Tara Project provides efficiency and quality training for producers and vocational training for young people.
It also actively participates in educational programs for children and women, as well as advocacy campaigns aimed at eliminating child labour.
