Handmade Urushi Bowl with Shoen Exterior and Bengara Hakeme Interior - Bowls - Wood

Product Description

This listing is for one bowl (not a set). 【 Features 】 “Shōen” is finished with a layer of red beneath the black, while “Bengara” has black beneath the red. As time passes, each reveals subtle shifts in color and texture— a quiet dialogue between the two, enhancing one another. Traditional Japanese techniques such as nuno-kise (cloth reinforcement), honji (base coating), and hakeme-nuri (brushed lacquering) make the bowl both durable and richly expressive. The harmony of black and red—like stillness and movement, yin and yang—can be felt in its presence. 【 Dimensions (approx.) 】 Diameter: 11 cm Height: 7 cm Weight: 135 g Capacity: 300 ml (when filled to the brim) 【 Care Instructions 】 Wash gently with a soft sponge and mild detergent. After washing, wipe off any moisture with a soft cloth. As with all urushi lacquerware, please do not use a dishwasher, dish dryer, microwave, or oven. Avoid pouring in boiling water or other extremely hot liquids, as it may cause discoloration. Each piece is handcrafted with great care, and is listed simultaneously in multiple galleries and online shops.Depending on the timing of your order, the item may have already been sold before the inventory is updated. If this happens, we will contact you promptly. Thank you for your understanding. 【 Shipping Information 】 For EMS (Express Mail Service) shipments, customs duties or import taxes may be charged upon arrival. Please note that these fees are the responsibility of the buyer. Finally A bowl that grows with its owner. What I create is not the final form— it continues to evolve through daily use, through the small marks and scratches left by time. May it become a bowl that feels uniquely yours, passed down to your children or grandchildren, and when its story comes to an end, laid to rest beside you. I made these bowls while imagining such a journey, layering and polishing the lacquer again and again. May you one day find yourself thinking, “These bowls have aged beautifully.”
