Aurora Realm 18K Gold Akoya Saltwater Pearl Necklace 8.5–9mm Passepartout Pearl - Necklaces - Pearl Gold

Product Description

This necklace is minimalist, tranquil, and aurora-inspired. The "Aurora Realm" features a single, 8.5-9mm, premium Akoya natural seawater pearl. It is perfectly round, translucent, and has a near-mirror-like luster, emitting a restrained yet striking silver-white halo. It is paired with a champagne-gold 18K gold chain, secured with a classic "passepartout" design. The pearl slides slightly, like light flowing across the clavicle. Akoya pearls larger than 8mm are rare and difficult to cultivate. The pearls used in this necklace are highly round, highly shinning, and nearly flawless, making them ideal as a collectible, affordable, and luxurious single pearl. The 18K gold bead ring further enhances the ultimate simplicity and elegance. In addition to the AKOYA necklace, a freshwater pearl version (7.5mm-8mm) is also available. ✨"Lu Lu Tong" (Pu Lu Tong) Meaning: "Lu Lu Tong" is a classic auspicious design in jewelry design. The center stone slides naturally through the necklace, symbolizing a smooth and unimpeded path, smooth progress, peace, and good fortune. Whether given as a gift or worn daily, it is a protective symbol imbued with beautiful meaning. Pearls are not just jewelry, but also a carrier of blessings. This necklace embodies strength in simplicity and firmness in gentleness. Under light, it doesn't shine; it simply quietly retains its light on you. [Since our factory produces and manufactures its own pearls, all sizes are limited.] Because pearls take time to harvest, some sizes may be temporarily out of stock due to sell-outs or changes in seawater and aquaculture conditions. For this reason, some styles may be temporarily out of stock. Please inquire about product availability before ordering. Our pearls, depending on the variety, are sourced from two major production areas, Japan and China. Each pearl is crafted in professional Chinese jewelry workshops, ensuring consistent quality and exquisite craftsmanship, perfectly showcasing the pearl's natural luster and charm. 🔹 Origin of Japan | Akoya Saltwater Pearls, Mantama Pearls Akoya pearls, known as "Akoya" in Chinese, are the most representative saltwater pearl variety. They are primarily cultivated in Mie, Kumamoto, and Ehime, Japan, and are particularly renowned along the coast of the Seto Inland Sea. Akoya pearls are cultivated from the Pinctada fucata oyster. Due to their small size, each shell can only produce one pearl, and the meticulous cultivation process requires approximately three years. As a result, their production is relatively rare, resulting in high quality and a high price. Akoya pearls are nucleated pearls with a very round shape and a cool, bright luster. Known as the "little light bulbs" of the pearl world, they are highly sought after in fine jewelry. The surface often has a natural "orange peel" texture. Selected grades (such as those with a Japanese certificate) are virtually flawless and boast a more translucent luster. Colors include cherry blossom pink, snow white pearl, turquoise pearl, cool turquoise, aurora gold, and queen color. There's also the rare "Zento Ma" color, a variant of the Akoya with a natural pink-purple sheen, highly sought after by collectors. 🔹 China Origin | Freshwater Cultured Pearls China is the world's largest producer of freshwater pearls, with production concentrated in Zhejiang, Hunan, Jiangsu, and Anhui. Freshwater pearls are primarily cultivated using large clams such as the cumingia oyster. A single oyster can produce dozens of pearls simultaneously, resulting in a much higher yield than saltwater pearls. Over the past decade, significant advancements in cultivation technology and selection standards have enabled high-quality freshwater pearls to approach Akoya grades in terms of roundness, shell firmness, and luster. Although cultured without a bead, top-quality freshwater pearls can achieve near-round shape, a warm, translucent luster, and a strong sheen. They're also more affordable, making them a cost-effective choice for both everyday wear and designer jewelry. Whether you choose Akoya saltwater pearls or Chinese freshwater pearls, all are crafted in our Chinese workshops, ensuring that every piece, from raw materials to detailed craftsmanship, meets jewelry-grade standards, adding a touch of elegance to your everyday life. Not sure whether to buy freshwater or Akoya pearls? A comparison of the two is below. I. Origin & Cultivation Akoya Pearls Akoya pearls are a type of saltwater cultured pearl. Primarily produced in Japan, they are also cultivated in Vietnam and China. Akoya pearls are cultivated using the Pinctada martensii oyster, which thrives in highly saline waters with complex currents. Typically, each oyster produces only one pearl. Akoya pearl cultivation takes a relatively long time, lasting approximately 3-5 years. Annual production is relatively low, accounting for approximately 10% of global pearl production (of all saltwater pearls). Akoya pearls were the world's first commercially produced saltwater cultured pearls, beginning in the early 1900s. Saltwater cultured pearls, including Akoya, are typically cultured using a bead, with a spherical bead placed inside the oyster. Freshwater pearls are cultivated in freshwater environments, such as lakes and rivers. They are primarily produced in lakes and rivers along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China, such as those in Zhejiang, Hunan, and Jiangsu. Freshwater pearls are primarily cultivated with the Hyriopsis cumingii oyster, which thrives in a stable, controlled water environment. A single oyster can produce 10-40 or 30-50 pearls. Freshwater pearls are mostly formed naturally within the oyster shell, without a nucleus implanted (primarily nucleus-free cultivation), resulting in their more irregular shapes. Freshwater pearl cultivation is relatively short, lasting approximately 1-3 years. Freshwater pearl production accounts for the vast majority of global pearl production, approximately 95%. Freshwater nucleus-cultured pearls are also known as "Edison" pearls. Both natural and nucleus-free cultured pearls are composed almost entirely of nacre. II. Appearance - Shape & Size Shape: Akoya pearls, due to the use of a round nucleus during cultivation and the relatively thin bead layer that helps maintain their roundness, typically achieve a very round shape with a high percentage of roundness. Over 90% of high-quality Akoya pearls are nearly perfectly round. The roundness of Akoya pearls available to consumers is generally quite good. Freshwater cultured pearls (primarily beadless) are naturally formed without a nucleus, so their shapes are more likely to be oval or irregular. Over 80% of freshwater pearls on the market are oval, oblate, or baroque in shape, with a low percentage of round pearls. Due to beadless cultivation, round pearls are extremely rare in freshwater pearls, and near-round is the highest roundness grade. Freshwater beaded cultured pearls (Edison pearls) are similar in size to saltwater pearls but have a lower roundness. Size: Akoya pearls are small, generally ranging from 6-9mm in diameter. Commercially produced pearls are mostly 6-8mm or 5-8mm. 8mm is considered a good size, and the largest Akoya pearls can reach 10-11mm. The larger the size of an Akoya pearl, the more valuable it is. Even a difference of just 1mm—for example, between a 7-8mm and an 8-9mm Akoya pearl—can result in a significant price difference. Freshwater cultured pearls typically range in diameter from 5-12mm. Nucleated freshwater pearls (Edison pearls) can range from 12-20mm in size. South Sea pearls are generally more common in the 10-16mm range, with pearls exceeding 16mm being relatively rare and valuable. III. Appearance - Color Akoya pearls are primarily white. Common overtones of white include pink, light blue-green, and light yellow-green, with pink being the most popular. Akoya pearls also come in blue (such as Mantama) and yellow (such as Aurora Queen and Aurora Gold). Saltwater pearls (including Akoya) do not have purple. Pearl color originates from minerals or natural pigments secreted by the mother oyster. Freshwater cultured pearls primarily come in whit
