We hope you will consider it during this opportunity.* This small plate is crafted by combining reddish-brown earthenware, which conveys a rustic texture and warmth, with a lustrous white glaze. It was fired in a kerosene kiln at a pottery studio we are currently working with, rather than our usual home electric kiln. The firing process used was reduction firing, which creates an oxygen-deficient environment inside the kiln. This method imparts a unique, deep character that cannot be achieved with an electric kiln. The glaze is an original creation from the pottery studio, offering a color and texture that cannot be found elsewhere. Measuring just under 12cm in diameter, this is a slightly larger-than-usual small plate. It can be used as a side dish plate, a sweet plate, for serving small portions of dishes like blanched greens or braised burdock root, or as a condiment dish. The white ceramic, with its earthy feel, harmonizes with a wide spectrum of colors, making it a versatile backdrop for any dish. We hope you enjoy it with a variety of ingredients. All stages of production, from clay preparation and shaping to bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are done by hand in my home studio, which is equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. While mass production is not possible, each piece has its own unique expression, and you can enjoy the subtle nuances that come from being handmade. The item you will receive is the same as shown in the product images. There are currently two pieces available. Although the production method is identical, there are slight variations in the glaze's color and the overall size. Details for each piece are provided in the final product image, labeled with numbers 12. As long as stock is available, you are welcome to choose your preferred piece. Please indicate your preference at the time of purchase. The base of the plate has been carefully sanded to minimize any potential scratching of your table. I continuously explore new combinations of glazes and clays, creating a variety of ceramics in different colors and shapes. Each piece is unique, appearing similar but truly one-of-a-kind. To address this, we apply a water-blocking treatment to all our tableware before shipping, eliminating the need for a preliminary soaking (mezoma). This treatment requires 2-3 days to complete, hence our shipping timeframe of 5 days from order placement. If you prefer not to have the water-blocking treatment applied, please inform us at the time of purchase. - We strive to ensure product images accurately represent the actual item.
