"You have dined; you are implicated in the slaughter." – Emerson "The process of raising and killing animals for food is not pleasant, but the hidden methods allow us to remain safely insulated from it." – Melanie Joy, *Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows* The first piece in the "Workbook" series, «τραγῳδία» *The Goat Song*, is a product of practicing a vegan conceptual lifestyle. In the kitchen, in the most everyday way, painting with "edible pigments": noodles as lines, colorful plants as hues; after cooking, taking photos with a mobile phone, editing images on the social media platform Instagram, and finally, eating the "painting." The resulting "digital images" are produced through "giclée" and "digital printing" to create "high-priced" and "low-priced" "multiple originals"; using Woven Flexagon binding, the handmade paper book expresses the interactive interface browsing mode of mobile phones and social media, as well as the surface and reality of industrial animal agriculture: the surface pages display endearing portraits of farm animals, while the hidden pages reveal the hidden truths of slaughterhouses in the livestock industry. Each "edible painting" is also a "Plant Milk Visual Poem," questioning the tradition of adult humans consuming milk.
