Product Description

Postcard Size: 135mm x 135mm Got a little ink drip... What makes black and white cats truly unique is the one-of-a-kind patterns of their black and white markings. It's as if they're wearing a gentleman's hat, paired with bright yellow eyes. I wonder what you're looking at? When hung on the wall, it becomes the most charming cat artwork. We hope you'll find a sense of leisurely contentment in these pieces, shared with the cats. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54789923122_7fa4da2c9f_c.jpg Hyejin's cats diligently keep her company as she creates, and we can bring these beautiful moments into our lives. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791102220_ba02803a86_c.jpg Place it in a frame, and it becomes the perfect piece of home decor. The postcard size offers endless possibilities – use it as a card or as a delightful art piece. We recommend purchasing a set of multiple pieces for a beautiful combination! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791102245_abb81a4ae9_c.jpg The SEA ice team proudly presents the hand-painted artworks of Korean artist Hyejin. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791026263_4b1f2dab16_b.jpg There's a little story behind why we decided to represent this brand. In late 2024, just as we were preparing to fly to Korea for a meeting, a sudden lockdown was announced. It was lifted just before our flight, and after arriving safely in Korea, we found ourselves unexpectedly trapped in a subway car. Protesters were flooding in, pushing us until we could barely breathe and couldn't move – we were practically airborne. All we could think was, 'What do we do? Will there be a stampede?' We kept encouraging each other to stay calm, to find ways to breathe, to keep our heads up, and to stand firm so we wouldn't fall. Thankfully, after a few stops, the dense crowd disembarked at Yeouido Station. We were so shaken, tears welled up. A few stops later, we left the subway and stumbled upon Hyejin's exhibition. The cats' languid and serene postures instantly calmed the storm we had just weathered. We, who were disoriented and frightened, felt as if we had firmly returned to solid ground. From the bottom of our hearts, we truly felt: It's wonderful that cats exist in this world. Hyejin's cat creations are such treasures. And so, this unexpected partnership came to be. 🤍 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791025978_c361304614_c.jpg Hyejin's style blends modern sensibilities with traditional Korean techniques, developed through slow, deliberate creation and hand-painting. We absolutely adore the nostalgic, retro feel in her works, reminiscent of the folk painting scrolls from Korea's Joseon Dynasty. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54789923222_46ac7b4975_c.jpg Each stroke meticulously outlines incredibly fine details, creating artworks that invite prolonged admiration. Creating art with traditional Korean crafts requires immense patience. The artist applies delicate layers of color, building rich textures and deep, saturated hues. Even the tiny butterflies and grasshoppers are rendered with exquisite detail and soul. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791008469_5cfdb8271f_c.jpg Each painting captures the essence of cats sharing our space. The artist conveys a message through the cats' unhurried, quietly companionable presence. Hyejin frequently holds solo exhibitions in Korea and has been creating art for over a decade. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791102340_09288edf64_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54789923372_b9e7b97b2c_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54789923357_30bd7feac8_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54789923327_ebb7b5d094_b.jpg Hyejin primarily uses her own cats as subjects, depicting them as mischievous yet sharp-eyed, embodying a perfectly fierce and characterful feline presence. There's a captivating blend of contrast and harmony, a perfect fusion of tradition and modernity. By incorporating contemporary styles and characters, she portrays the lives and thoughts of animals within traditional art. She utilizes Hanji (traditional Korean paper) and the Gongbi (meticulous brushwork) technique, which are less commonly seen in the market. This paper lends a warm, mellow tone to the overall artwork, while the intricate Gongbi lines add exquisite detail. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791008479_1a3b230ced_c.jpg This warm feeling, this wonderful combination, allows contemporary painting styles to integrate seamlessly.
