Effortlessly displayed with a magnetic wooden scroll, it exudes unparalleled elegance. - Weituo Bodhisattva is historically depicted as a handsome and valiant general, wearing a helmet adorned with phoenix-wing decorations, dark boots resembling dark clouds, yellow scale armor, and wielding a vajra pestle (or with hands clasped in prayer, the pestle resting between his bent arms). The legend of Weituo Bodhisattva is believed to be the previous incarnation of Louzhi Buddha, who vowed to be the last to attain Buddhahood among the thousand Buddhas of the meritorious eon. He is entrusted with the task of dispelling evil spirits and protecting the Buddhist Dharma. Since the Tang and Song dynasties, he has been widely revered. Therefore, statues of Weituo Bodhisattva are found in monasteries, and his image is depicted at the end of Buddhist scriptures, with the hope of receiving his protection to ensure the eternal flourishing of the Right Dharma. However, according to Master Yin Shun's research, Weituo is actually a synthesis of three concepts: 1. Weituo Heavenly King: A guardian deity in Indian Buddhism, listed alongside other guardians like Vajra. 2. General Weikun: One of the eight generals of the Southern Heavenly Kings. 3. Vajra: Named for wielding the vajra pestle, originally a powerful Yaksha, under the command of the Four Heavenly Kings.
