The Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts is developing through a "one institution, multiple venues" approach. Among these, the Hengshan Calligraphy Art Museum is the nation's first officially established museum dedicated to calligraphy art. Its mission is to exhibit, educate, promote, and research calligraphy. Therefore, the Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts established the "Hengshan Calligraphy Art Museum Biennial Award for Calligraphy Research and Criticism" (Hengshan Award) in 2020, opening it to international submissions with the aim of encouraging calligraphy research and expanding the contemporary critical discourse on calligraphy.
