"All Kinds of Spirits"
Taiwan is an island of nature. That's why there are tales about all kinds of spirits in the ocean, mountains, and plants. The "All Kinds of Spirits" collection introduces some popular spirits in Taiwan, including the Aunt Tiger that scares the kids the most, the naughty Mountain Elves, the Aunt Chair that guarded children, and the Pen Fairy summoned in the classroom. In our memories, these spirits were so vivid and lively. I wonder how these stories would be like in the modern settings.

"Introduction to Color"
Hóo-koo-pô (Aunt Tiger)
A long, long time ago, Aunt Tiger often showed up at night. They said she always pretended to take care of kids and ate those who weren't willing to sleep. But, maybe she was just a spirit of a tiger, and the story about this child-eating tiger is just something adults made up to trick children to sleep.
Í-á-koo (Aunt Chair)
In the folktale, a girl was abused to death and became a wraith, also known as the Aunt Chair, to protect little girls. She hid in the corners of the household and guarded everyone. Sometimes, she'd hang out with children. But she'd disappear immediately as she sees any adult.
môo-sîn-á (Mountain Elf)
Mountain Elves that lived in the mountains. They always welcomed the lost tourists with great hospitality. But they often served people with mud balls or worm noodles (maybe it's the cultural difference). They may have acted weird but they meant well. All they ever wanted was to hang out with people.
pit-sian (Pen Fairy)
A group of children circled around a table at the corner of the classroom. They seemed excited. "Pen Fairy, Pen Fairy, please come out!" they said. After they cast a few spells, the pen held jointly by the children started moving on the paper and wrote "I am the Pen Fairy."
